Rofusz Kinga graduated from the animation department and the master’s course of the Hungarian College of Applied Arts. She is a member of the National Association of Hungarian Artists, the Association of Hungarian Filmmakers and the Society of Hungarian Illustrators. She won the Illustrator of the Year award in 2010. She has had numerous group and solo exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad. With her monumental paintings of assured color and her deep, subtle sensitivity to text, she is the creative partner of the most outstanding contemporary writers. In the large pictures everything and everyone floats and strives upward, while the brushstrokes and rubbed-back surfaces of the background bear witness to the tangibility of the material.

In her freshly published new book, OTTHON (Home), the artist introduces herself not “merely” as an illustrator but also as the author of a story told exclusively in drawings and pictures.

What does home mean to each of us? A safe refuge? A place where it feels good to be with the ones we love?

One day, the little boy hero of OTTHON learns that they have to move out of the old house: his parents have sold it and bought a new one. It is the story of bidding farewell to the old home, of longing to return, of painful separation, and of the comforting experience of finding home once again. Told in pictures alone.
