Virtual walk
The gallery’s interior is a spatial interpretation of the unique visual language of Gross. Every detail contributes to an immersive environment that reflects the richness, playfulness, and poetic density of his universe.
ARNOLDO functions as an active cultural venue, regularly hosting book launches, workshops, literary evenings, chamber performances, and children’s programs.
The ground-floor gallery and art shop present a curated selection of Arnold Gross’s works, including original collector-quality etchings, fine art prints, and postcards. Alongside his oeuvre, works by contemporary Hungarian illustrators and graphic artists are also featured.
Temporary exhibitions complement the permanent display, introducing guest artists and expanding the dialogue around graphic art. Previous exhibitors include Vladimir Szabó, Tamás Cseh, Imre Szemethy, Sándor Gajzágó, Anna Ábrahám, Klára Németh, Kinga Rofusz, Ferenc Kováts, Catarina Sobral, Bori Rutkai, Dóra Kisteleki, and Béla Ikafalvi-Farkas.
On the upper gallery level, archival materials—historic posters and photographs—offer insight into the artist’s career. Display cases present highlights from his personal collections of model trains and minerals, objects he regarded not as scientific specimens, but as sources of visual inspiration—miniature reflections of his own imagined worlds.

The café is both a cultural setting and an intimate meeting place.
A space where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life: a cozy coffee, a conversation, or a quiet moment becomes part of the aesthetic experience.
Its origins are rooted in a personal story. During his visits to Rome, Arnold Gross was a regular guest at the historic Antico Caffè Greco near the Spanish Steps, where he was warmly greeted as “Arnoldo”—a name that later inspired the café.
The concept was simple: to allow artwork to live beyond the studio or display conditions in an interactive, warm and inviting environment; realised and materialised by the artist’s son, András Gross, architect and designer. The Café regularly hosts private gatherings, offering a cozy and atmospheric venue with a variety of lighting conditions for music, talks, exhibitions.

Flavours and Atmosphere
The culinary experience is inspired by the artwork surrounding guests.
The menu features homemade pastries—such as traditional flódni, fruit-filled prósza, and the signature brownie is sublime with the specialty coffee from Italian roasting traditions. Healthy refreshments are on offer.
Guests may also discover the artist’s favorite drink, the “Arnoldo coffee,” a refined and distinctive creation reflecting his appreciation for quality and detail.
With seating for approximately twenty guests, the café provides an intimate setting suitable for private gatherings, small events, and celebrations. The atmosphere is defined by warmth, attentiveness, and a sense of familiarity—where visitors are welcomed not as customers, but as returning friends. We welcome guests afternoon-evening hours with music, cocktails and extended to our leafy terrace with al-fresco seating during the summer, autumn and spring months.

Curation of the Arnold Gross Artistic Legacy
Through the integration of studio materials, reacquired works, archival documents and personal objects, a comprehensive collection of more than two hundred unique art pieces has been assembled. Research extends beyond cataloguing to include technical analysis, variations, and creative processes, offering an increasingly precise understanding of the artist’s practice.
Prominent Artwork and Research
Particular attention is given to major works within the oeuvre, including two large-scale compositions originally created for public interiors, now forming prominent and sophisticated, synthesised pieces of the Gross collection.
The Archive furthermore incorporates interviews, contemporary documentation, exhibition records, and personal notes, enabling deeper scholarly interpretation.
Collection and Collaboration
The Archive actively seeks artworks, documents, and related materials connected to Arnold Gross. Collectors and institutions are invited to collaborate in expanding and preserving the collection. Professional consultation is available for works requiring identification, evaluation, or contextualisation.
