Our next exhibition opens on October 13, 2017, on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Painting: the third installment of our exhibition series The Golden Age of Hungarian Graphic Art, a show of works by Szabó Vladimir. Drawn from Gross Arnold’s collection, the exhibition will feature, alongside Szabó Vladimir’s widely known, sultry etchings crowded with rotund figures, a freshly restored large-scale oil painting, Spring in the Old Town (Tavasz a régi városban), which had adorned Arnold’s room since the 1950s and in front of which, among others, even Kondor Béla once posed for photographs.
On October 25, an exhibition of works by Amerigo Tot — Gross Arnold’s Roman patron and friend — opens, organized by the Amerigo Tot Foundation; curator: Nemes Péter.
Between November 16 and December 6, the exhibition Sugared Ink (Cukrostinta) by graphic artist Szemethy Jim will be on view.
The Munkácsy Prize-winning Hungarian graphic artist — whose early etchings are rich in detail, often surreal and absurd, spiced with a drop of irony — was Arnold’s fellow artist and friend; the two appear together in the 1978 biographical film Játék-Film. For his exhibition at the Gross Gallery he selects from his printed graphic works made in the 1970s and 1980s, and at the opening it will be revealed just what sugared ink actually is.

December 7–22, 2017: Traditional Christmas Exhibition and art fair, offering a selection of works by Gross Arnold and by artists previously exhibited at the gallery: Ábrahám Anna, Kisteleki Dóra, Rófusz Kinga, Szabó Vladimir, and others.
In January 2018, on the 75th anniversary of his birth, we will open an exhibition of Cseh Tamás’s lesser-known graphic works, courtesy of the Cseh Tamás Archive and the family.
The exhibitions are held on the ground floor of the gallery. Gross Arnold’s permanent exhibition upstairs remains open, and his works can be purchased throughout the guest exhibitions as well.
