On October 26, 2020, just before All Souls’ Day, we erected the grave monument of Gross Arnold and his brother, Gross Tivadar. The brothers’ names are carved by hand into the travertine stone, quarried near Rome; between them swings an angel modeled in colorful glazed pyrogranite, and above, in the center of the tympanum, a friendly little sun, also modeled in glazed pyrogranite, smiles down. The surround is rounded, and along its top runs a pair of rails, like on a 0-gauge model railway layout. I had been planning to erect this monument for three years, and only now did it come together. Working from the plans, concepts and ideas, my friend, the sculptor Böjte Horváth István, carved, chiseled and modeled the monument.

Because of the pandemic, no official unveiling ceremony will be held; admirers and mourners may pay their respects at Farkasrét Cemetery (artists’ plot, grave 25/V./1./14.).
